Hadrian's Holiday Lodges is situated in Longbyre, a small hamlet by the B6318, between Greenhead and Gilsland. Ours is the last house in Longbyre, at the Gilsland end. We are two minutes north-west of where the Hadrian's Wall Trail and the Pennine Way cross the B6318. The National Cycle route 72 passes our front door.

2.6 miles after the second turning to Haltwhistle, take the turning to Greenhead, turn right at the start of the hill

Driving from Carlisle (From the West): Travelling along the A69
1.2 miles after the turning to Gilsland, take the turning to Greenhead, turn left half way down the hill, just after the speed camera

Travelling along the B6318, 1mile after the railway bridge at Gilsland, turn left into Longbyre

Walking the Pennine Way from the South
After you cross the A69 (take care!) you pass by the golf course and then Wallend Farm. Then you come to the B6318 (and the signs direct you to the right). Do not follow the signs, Four Wynds is about 165 yards north-west (to the left), along the B6318.
Walking the Hadrian's Wall Trail from the West
After passing "behind" Gilsland Village, for the next mile you cross a couple of farms. Then you come to the B6318 (and the signs direct you to the right). Do not follow the signs, Four Wynds is about 150 yards north-west (to the left), along the B6318.
Walking the Hadrian's Wall Trail from the East
After passing through the Walltown Quarry site and along the vallum, you come down a hill side. In front of you is Thirlwall Castle and the the hamlet of Longbyre. The path takes you across a railway line (check for trains!) to the B6318 and signs you to the right, along the road. (The Trail crosses the B6318 and continues on across fields.) Do not leave the B6318. Four Wynds is about 200 meters north-west (to the right), along the B6318.
Public transport
Busses AD122, 685, 44 and 185 stop in Longbyre close to Four Wynds. The nearest Railway Station is at Haltwhistle (telephone us for a lift).
